Standards, Benchmarks and Expectations

The National Core Arts Standards are based on the artistic processes of
Creating,
Performing/Producing/Presenting,
Analyzing in Context & Responding,
and Making Connections.
These processes define and organize the link between arts and the learner.

These processes are guided by national and state standards of quality.

In each grade level, specific, age-appropriate expectations fall under the following five umbrella ideas:

a.) Students will apply skills and knowledge to perform in the arts.

b.) Students will apply skills and knowledge to create in the arts.

c.) Students will analyze, describe and evaluate works of art.

d.) Students will analyze in context

e.) Students will analyze and make connections
