Art to Remember: Class Overview

Art Projects by Grade

First Grade

Crazy Cat Pictures

Our art was inspired by the story They All Saw a Cat by B. Wenzel.  In the story, the cat was viewed by various creatures, each with a unique perception.  We learned the importance of respecting the views and opinions of one another and created colorful art, free of judgement!

Third Grade

Underwater Diving

This project was inspired by Shark Lady, written by J. Keating. In this true story, a young girl devotes her life to studying sharks.  We viewed movie clips of exotic marine life and learned to draw ourselves as scuba divers, adding beautiful details from imagination and/or researching books.

Second Grade

Exploring Space Pictures

Our art was inspired by the story The Astronaut Who Painted the Moon by Dean Robbins.  We became curious about what it would look and feel like if we also had a chance to explore space.  Students drew themselves as astronauts and added imaginative space details!

Fourth Grade

Lakescapes with Lighthouses

Students learned about the importance of lighthouses to our state and viewed photographs of various lighthouse structures.  Collaboratively conversations helped students build up details in their lakescape scenes.

For BVA Students

BVA students are also invited to participate in our Art to Remember campaign.  Your young artist can create a masterpiece of their own choice and  upload it to our Art to Remember site.  I recommend creating pictures with large images, outlined in black marker, and colored with crayon.  A PDF with uploading directions is available for you.
